Your Wednesday News Briefings

1. Hurricane Madeline is heading straight for Hawaii, the big island and should make landfall by Wedneday evening at a Category 1 hurricane. Winds are at about 90 mph so don’t do anything stupid like go swimming or fly a kite. I remember a Magnum PI episode involving a hurricane but the details are sparse and I couldn’t find it on YouTube. Please enjoy Higgins going cray instead.

2.Trump is heading to Mexico today, where his approval ratings are a notch above Cortez and small pox. This is presumably to prepare him for his trip to Detroit on Saturday, where he’s less popular than ‘being carjacked’ or ‘lead paint’.

3. Turbulence forced an emergency landing in Ireland today which reminds me of an old saying: ‘wear your seatbelt even while standing in line to go to the bathroom.’

4. Have a cigar! The first commercial flight between Cuba and the United States since the 1950s is set to take off today. Airline Jet Blue will make the historic flight, but other US airlines will soon be in on the tourism including Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue, Silver Airways, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, Sun Country and United Airlines. If you should miss your flight back, you can always take a boat.

5. An atheist has been sentenced to 10 years and 2000 lashes for tweeting his beliefs,  which is considered ‘terrorism’ in Saudi Arabia, an ally of the United States. Hey, it could have been worse!
